HMS Baseball Gets Conference Win Over HLP
Reece Petersen struck out 11 batters and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn downed Harris-Lake Park 7-1 in War Eagle Conference Baseball on Monday night. The Wolves struck first with a run in the top of the first. A two run homer by Ivan Abonce gave HMS the 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning. The Hawks added two more runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth. Petersen was the winning pitcher, giving up the one run on three hits. He struck out 11 and walked one. Sam Heyn was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Sam Haack was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Abonce was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. HMS improves to 3-14. They host Trinity Christian on Tuesday. Lucas Gunderson was the losing pitcher for HLP. He gave up seven runs on 12 hits. He struck out one and walked one. Brody Sohn was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Austin Gilmore was 1-for-2 with a run scored. HLP falls to 2-13. The Wolves host Estherville-Lincoln Central on Wednesday.
