HLP Baseball Pulls Away From HMS

Harris-Lake Park scored 13 runs in the final three innings and avenged an earlier loss to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 15-1 on Thursday night in Hartley. The Hawks struck first, scoring one run in the second. The Wolves took a 2-1 lead in the fourth and then scored four more runs in both the fifth and sixth inning. They added another five in the seventh to improve to 7-10 on the year.
Offensively, Dahlton Burdorf was 3-for-5 with three runs scored an a RBI. Bret Sohn was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Bryce Perkins was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Jordan Kyle got the win on the mound. He pitched all seven innings, giving up one run on eight hits and three walks. He struck out 10 in the contest. HLP is off until July 14th when they play West Sioux in Rock Rapids for the opening round of 1A District baseball play at 5pm. That game can be heard on KUOO. Dakotah Goodvin and Jordan Japenga were both 2-for-4 for HMS. Japenga was the losing pitcher. He gave up all 15 runs on 17 hits and two walks. He struck out three. HMS is now 7-10. They host Remsen St. Mary's on Friday for their regular season finale. The Hawks open up district play on Saturday, July 11th at 5pm in Hull against Sheldon. That game can be heard on Q102.
