Harris-Lake Park Football Advances To UNI-Dome
What a scene Friday night in Lake Park as the Harris-Lake Park Wolves defeated Ar-We-Va 44-36 to advance to the UNI-Dome.
The crowd was electric well before the first snap as they were treated to a beautiful night for early November football and treated to a terrific football game. Trevor Gunderson led the Wolves with 4 touchdowns, three rushing and a 22 yard halfback pass back to Bryce Perkins. Gunderson knew coming in that he would have to carry a majority of the offense because quarterback Perkins still wasn't 100 percent. Gunderson finished the night with 221 yards rushing, 70 yards receiving and 22 yards passing.
H-LP took a 24-14 lead into halftime before they score two touchdowns in a span of 6 seconds to start the 2nd half. Gunderson threw the touchdown to Perkins 1:31 into the 2nd half before Braeton Nitzchke intercepted Rockets quarterback Jake Danner 6 seconds later and ran it in 15 yards for the touchdown that extended the Wolves lead to 37-14.
The Wolves led by as many as 30 before the Rockets mounted a comeback that ultimately came up short.
The Wolves have advanced to play in the UNI-Dome for the first time in their history as they'll square off against Fremont-Mills, Tabor next Thursday in the 8-man semifinals. Kickoff around 12:05 PM on Q 102.
