Emmetsburg Softball Advances In Class 2A

Emmetsburg scored at least 1 run in every inning thru the first 5 innings and overcame a 4-2 deficit to defeat South O'Brien 9-5 in a Class 2A Region 1 postseason softball game.  The E'hawks scored 1 run in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th inning.  The Wolverines scored 4 of their 5 runs in the 2nd inning.  Leading the way for Emmetsburg was Jenna Chapman going 1-2 with 3 RBI's and 2 Runs scored.  Ashley Overberg was 2-3 with an RBI and a Run scored.  South O'Brien was led by Shay Lund going 3-3 and Brett Struve was 2-4 with 2 RBI's.

 

On the mound, Hali Noll started for Emmetsburg going 3 1/3 giving up 5 runs on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts.  Ashton Connelly came in and got the win going 3 2/3 with 0 runs and just 1 hit with 3 strikeouts.  Maycee Smith took the loss on the mound for South O'Brien going 4 2/3 innings with 9 runs (7 earned) on 7 hits with 1 strikeout and 7 walks.

 

Emmetsburg improves to 19-16 and will host Sioux Central Friday on Y 100 starting at 7 PM in a Class 2A Region 1 Semifinal.  South O'Brien finishes the season at 6-23 and graduate 5 seniors.
