Emmetsburg Loses Road Test Against BH/RV
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley hosted Emmetsburg on Friday night and the Nighthawks took advantage of early special teams miscues by the E'hawks and great field position in route to a 44-12 victory. BH/RV would score first in the game at 9:49 to go in the 1st quarter. Emmetsburg would go 3 and out on the next drive and on the punt the snapped was bobbled and downed in the end zone for a safety. After the free kick, Andrew Van Ginkel from BH/RV would scored on a 41 yard touchdown run and just like that it was 16-0. The E'hawks would respond with a score of their own at 4:58 to go in the first and on 4th and goal from the 5, Brandon Elbert would score the touchdown. The E'hawks would not score again until 4:29 left in the 4th quarter.
BH/RV had 295 yards of offense and led by Omar Mejia and his 3 carries for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. Emmetsburg was around 260 yards and led by Brady Christensen with 117 yards rushing in place of injured Aaron Bird. The E'hawks would also turn the ball over 5 times in the game.
Emmetsburg falls to 0-2 and will host North Union in their district opener on Friday and you can listen to it on Y 100 starting at 7 PM. BH/RV improves to 2-0 and will be at Sioux Center on Friday.
