Emmetsburg & Estherville Basketball Provide Good Games
It was a close girls game from beginning to end. The only difference was that Estherville had Josie Condon on their team. She accounted for 30 of the teams 33 points as Estherville beat Emmetsburg 33-31. The E'hawks led 27-23 going into the 4th quarter but could not stop Condon as she had 10 points for Estherville in the 4th including the game winner with less than 3 seconds left. Emmetsburg was led by Bailey Naig with 12 points. Emmetsburg falls to 2-6, 1-4 and will host Okoboji Tuesday on Y 100. Estherville improves to 4-6, 3-2 and will host Jackson Co Central on Monday.
The boys game was pretty much controlled by Emmetsburg until midway thru the 4th quarter. The E'hawks led 43-32 after three quarters. Estherville then went on a run to see them tie the game at 46. The E'hawks would close it out with free throws and win 51-46 in a good lakes conference basketball game. It was a big night for Emmetsburg Blake VerMulm as he poured in a game high 20 points. Estherville was led by Trevor Freisner with 13 points. Emmetsburg has won 3 in a row and improve to 4-4 on the season. Estherville falls to 3-7.
