Emmetsburg Basketball Splits With Cherokee Tuesday December 22nd

Girls Basketball

 

The Cherokee girls stay unbeaten on the season after defeating Emmetsburg 62-31 Tuesday night in Emmetsburg.  The Braves led 24-9 after the 1st quarter, 46-18 at half and 60-23 after 3 quarters before winning by 31.  Kaely Hummel led all scorers with 23 points.  Emmetsburg got 9 from Kate Jackson.  Cherokee improves to 7-0 on the season while Emmetsburg drops to 1-6.

 


Boys Basketball

 

The Emmetsburg boys go into the holiday break with a little momentum as they picked up their first win of the season Tuesday night by defeating Cherokee 61-44.  The E'hawks built a 40-31 lead heading into the final quarter and won the game on free throws.  They outscored the Braves 21-13 in the 4th quarter and Emmetsburg was 14-18 at the line in the 4th quarter.  3 players were in double figures for Emmetsburg led by Thomas Schultes with 16 points, Dalton Connelly 12 and Max Dunlap with 11.  Cherokee was led by Trey Valentine with 13 points.  Emmetsburg goes to 1-6 on the season while Cherokee drops to 2-5.
