Emmetsburg Basketball Hosts Estherville
The Emmetsburg girls basketball team picked up a 46-40 win over Estherville thanks to a 12-5 lead after the 1st quarter. ELC took the lead in the 4th quarter, but Emmetsburg kept up the aggresive play and hit free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. The E'hawks got to the free throw line 37 times in the game compared to 18 times for Estherville. Emmetsburg was 21-37 from the line. They were led by Bailey Naig with a game high 21 points. The E'hawks improve to 4-14 and 3-10 in the conference and will host West Bend-Mallard on Monday. Estherville was led by Josie Condon with 12 points as they fall to 4-16 and will host Spencer Tuesday.
It was a very low scoring boys game and in the end Estherville beat Emmetsburg 39-30. The Midgets held the E'hawks to 14 second half points. Both teams shot under 30% for the game. ELC was led by Trevor Freisner with a game high 17 points. He was the only player in double figures for either team. Emmetsburg got 6 each from Max Dunlap and Blake VerMulm. Estherville improves to 6-14 while Emmetsburg drops to 7-10
