Emmetsburg Basketball Has Tough Road Trip At Cherokee

Girls Game

 

The #4 ranked Cherokee girls started off the 1st quarter on a 15-0 run and never looked back in defeating Emmetsburg 69-40.  The Braves led 19-5 after 1, 46-22 at half, 61-29 after 3 quarters and won by 29.  They were led by Kaely Hummel with 25 points.  Emmetsburg got 14 points from Parker Traub.  The Braves are now 18-1 and 11-1 in the conference and will travel to Spencer Friday.  Emmetsburg falls to 3-14, 3-9 and will be at Estherville Friday on Y 100.

 

 

Boys Game

 

In a back and forth game, the Cherokee Braves pulled it out in the end winning 58-54 over Emmetsburg.  The E'hawks led 27-25 at half.  The Braves would outscore the E'hawks 18-15 in the 3rd quarter to take a 1 point lead into the final frame.  In the 4th quarter, Cherokee hit enough free throws and held on for the 4 point win.  E'hawks got 3 players in doubles; Thomas Schultes 15, Dalton Connelly 12 and Blake Ver Mulm with 10.  Cherokee got 15 points from Trey Valentine.  The E'hawks fall to 3-14, 1-11 while the Braves improve to 6-13, 3-9.
