Emmetsburg Basketball Drops Last Lakes Conference Game
The Emmetsburg girls basketball team played their last game in the Lakes Conference as they fell to LeMars 40-28. Next year, the E'hawks move to the Twin Lakes Conference so Tuesday night's game was the last time for girls basketball in the Lakes Conference. It was a slow start for Emmetsburg that did them as they trailed 11-2 after the 1st quarter. The rest of the way, LeMars only outscored them 29-26. Emmetsburg was led by Bailey Naig with 14 points as they fall to 5-15 and finish the conference season at 3-11. They will play at Manson Thursday to wrap up the regular season. LeMars was led by Madison Dreckman with 19 points as they improve to 17-3 and 12-2 in the conference.
The LeMars boys started of the 1st quarter on a 9-0 run and never looked back and beat Emmetsburg 74-25. The E'hawks were outscored 24-2 after the 1st quarter. For the game, the E'hawks shot just 26% while committing 19 turnovers. Meanwhile LeMars shot 55% and had 8 turnovers. The Bulldogs also made 11 three pointers as a team. They were led by Trenton Hillbrands with 19 points as they improve to 13-6. Emmetsburg got 5 points from both Brent Wesley and Thomas Schultes to led them in scoring. They fall to 8-11 overall and 3-10 in the conference.
