Class 3A Boys District Basketball
The Spirit Lake boys basketball team opened up the postseason with a hard fought, grind it out win over Spencer Monday night by the score of 67-49. The Indians only led by 28-20 at the half and midway thru the 3rd quarter Spencer took the lead and trailed by only 1 point going into the final quarter. In the 4th quarter, Spirit Lake outscored Spencer 27-10 after making free throws and shutting down Spencer's offense. For the game, Spirit Lake was 22-29 at the free throw compared to Spencer 6-8 at the line. Spirit Lake had 4 players in double figures including Owen Coburn who had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Spencer was led by Brady Kluender with a game high 28 points. The Tigers finish the season with a record of 8-14. Spirit Lake improves to 17-5 and will host Sergeant Bluff-Luton Thursday at 7 PM on KUOO.
