Class 1A Regional Softball from Monday

HMS at MMCRU Recap:

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn led most of the way but a big inning propelled MMCRU over the Hawks 6-2 in Class 1A Region 1 Softball play on Monday night. The Hawks scored in the top of the first and held the lead until the Royals tied it in the bottom of the fourth. The Hawks retook the lead in the top of the fifth and held the 2-1 lead until MMCRU broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Emily Dreckman and Natalee Henke each went 2-for-3 for the Royals. MMCRU is 12-11 and they play at River Valley on Tuesday. Jennie Riedemann was 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a RBI for HMS. Amanda Recher was 1-for-3 with a RBI for the Hawks whose season ends at 6-20.


HLP at KP Recap:

Harris-Lake Park saw their season come to a close with a 2-0 loss at Kingsley-Pierson in Class 1A District 1 Softball on Monday night. K-P got their two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Their pitcher Anna Bubke got the win, giving up no runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks. For Harris-Lake Park, Mady Brevik took the loss. She pitched all six innings, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out two and walking one. Taylor Meyer was 2-for-4 for the Wolves. Jazmin Vehl was 2-for-3. HLP left nine runners on base. The Wolves season ends at 9-13.
