Youth In Philanthropy Sets Another Fundraising Record; Announces 2019 Grant Recipients
(Arnolds Park)-- The Okoboji Foundation has announced its Youth In Philanthropy program raised $72,377 this year for vital capital improvement projects in the Iowa Great Lakes, setting a new record.
The group awarded $20,000 to the Okoboji Sailing Center for boats for its interscholastic sailing program; $16,000 will go to the Lakes Regional Healthcare Auxiliary for an ambulance power loading system; $8,000 was awarded to the Dickinson County Fair Board for a public address system; the Dickinson County Izaak Walton League was awarded $5,000 for handicapped access and storage; and $2,000 was awarded to the LakeOkoboji United Methodist Camp for water safety and rescue equipment.
The Youth In Philanthropy group held its year-end celebration Wednesday.
137 students have participated in the program since 2010, raising a combined total of $342,000 for various capital projects in the community.
The group also thanks the sponsors that helped make the experience possible.
