(Spirit Lake)-- The YMCA Of the Okoboji's is kicking off their 2021 Strong Kids Campaign. The organization's Director of Development and Engagement, Cindy Rosa, says they're hoping to raise $160,000 this year...Strong Kids Campaign01

"We raise money each year so that we can give out scholarships to Camp Foster, scholarships to the Y for memberships, scholarships for programs like our school age child care, youth sports, anything we offer basically we offer scholarships for."

She says most residents and local businesses should have already received a mailing with information about the campaign, along with a pledge form.

Rosa says they're expecting to see a big increase in need for assistance this year due to the pandemic...Strong Kids Campaign02

"We want people to feel comfortable to let us know that they need assistance, and there are many people in our community that need assistance. Everybody has been affected by the pandemic in one way or another and so raising these dollars just really goes to help our neighbors and our friends and our communities here."

Rosa adds they will once again be holding their YMCA Strong Kids Golf Outing presented by Northwest Bank. It's set for June 25th at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park.
