Worthington Man Sentenced In Federal Court On Meth Charge

(Sioux City)-- A Worthington man was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Sioux City to five years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

35-year-old Marcus Cervantes Martinez had pled guilty back on February 2nd of this year to the charge.

At his plea hearing, Cervantes Martinez admitted involvement in a conspiracy that distributed atleast 50 grams of mixed methamphetamine containing atleast five grams of pure methamphetamine from 2015 through September 2016 in Minnesota and Iowa.

Cervantes Martinez also admitted to distributing 1/4 pound of mixed methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement in August 2016.

In addition to the prison sentence, he must also serve a four year term of supervised release after serving the prison term.

Cervantes Martinez is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
