Worthington Man Arrested After Pretending To Fire A Fake Gun From A Vehicle At A Drive Through Of An Estherville Bank
(Estherville)-- An incident this (Thurs.) morning at an Estherville bank resulted in the arrest of a Worthington, Minnesota man.
The Estherville Police Department says officers were called around 9:40 am to Northwest Bank after getting a call from an employee regarding a man in a vehicle with two other people in it that was in the drive through. The caller stated one of the subjects was wearing a bandana and pointed a gun at a security camera and pulled the trigger. Upon investigating surveillance video, police determined the gun was a toy. They identified the man that had it as 20-year-old Simon Berihu Gebrehiwot of Worthington, and that he was wanted on a warrant out of Minnesota for a parole violation. Gebrehiwot was taken into custody and was charged with 1st degree harassment. He was booked into the Emmet county jail.
Police say the other occupants in the vehicle, including a small child, were released. Authorities say, however, additional charges in the case may be pending.
