Worker At A Storm Lake Meat Packing Facility That's In The Epicenter Of A Major COVID-19 Outbreak In Buena Vista County Dies Of The Virus
(Storm Lake)-- Coronavirus has claimed the life of a man who worked at a Storm Lake meat packing facility which is at the epicenter of a major outbreak of the virus in Buena Vista county. It brings that county's number of deaths from the virus so far to four.
An attorney representing the estate of 60-year-old Ken Jones says Jones, a longtime employee of the facility, died of the virus last week after having been hospitalized two weeks. Jones, who is from Alta, worked 12 years in the plant's maintenance department.
87 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Buena Vista county Wednesday bringing the county's total so far to 1,343. Public health officials say about 1 in 15 residents in that county have now tested positive for the virus. They say 280 of the cases reported had recovered as of Wednesday night.
