Women in STEM Festival to highlight Career Options for Young Women March 16

About 250 young ladies will participate in the Women in STEM Festival on Wednesday on the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

Northwest Iowa Regional STEM Manager Mary Trent explains.  "So, we're having a STEM Festival, highlighting STEM careers, and we're targeting girls especially, because sometimes girls don't always think that they're equipped or they're fit to be someone that could be in a STEM career.  Our goal is to show kids that there's many, many careers, STEM careers, in the State of Iowa.  So, we're providing education, hands on training and then, also showing the connection to some careers, and so we have young ladies that are in the 7th and 8th grade from Emmetsburg, Emmetsburg Catholic, Estherville Lincoln Central, Harris-Lake Park, Graettinger-Terril and Spirit Lake coming."

A dozen presenters will walk the young women through 30 minute sessions throughout the day.
