Williams enters Not Guilty plea in connection with shooting of jessica Weisharr

(Algona)-The Coralville man who is accused of shooting and killing a Lu Verne bank employee has pleaded not guilty to the charges of first degree murder and first degree robbery at his arraignment on Wednesday in Kossuth County. Authorities allege that Valentino Williams, age 35, shot 43 year old Jessica Weisharr of Algona on the morning December 4th outside of the Security State Bank in Lu Verne.

Williams was taken into custody about an hour after he fled the scene when he was stopped on Interstate 35.

Williams has numerous prior convictions, including six second degree robbery convictions, second degree theft convictions as well as convictions for eluding and assault. six previous second degree robbery convictions, one second degree burglary conviction, three second degree theft convictions, an eluding conviction and an assault conviction.

A preliminary hearing is set for January 28th in Kossuth County Court in Algona.
