Water Projects Awarded Funding

(Undated)-- The USDA is investing $1.2 billion to help rebuild and improve rural water infrastructure, and 10 projects in Iowa are receiving funding, including two in northwest Iowa.

The city of Marathon is receiving a $605,000 loan and a $1.7 million dollar grant to rehabilitate its wastewater collection system. 

Iowa Lakes Regional Water in Spencer is receiving a $5.4 million loan and $3.5 million grant to develop the Osgood well field and construct a reverse osmosis water treatment plant. The project will provide an increased supply of water for future population growth in the region. 

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas.
