Voters In Several School Districts Head To The Polls Today (Tues. 9/10)

Tue 9-10-2019 []

(Undated)-- Voters in several area school districts are headed to the polls today (Tues., Sept. 10th) to vote on revenue purpose statements, or what basically amounts to an extension of a one cent local option sales tax for schools. The program is known as SAVE, or Secure an Advanced Vision for Education.

School officials say it has no impact on property taxes and that it raises about $1 million annually for student enrichment.

Polls for the Okoboji and Spirit Lake Community School Districts are open until 8:00 pm.

A similar measure is also on the ballot today (Tues. 9/10) in the Spencer Community School District.

Voters in the Storm Lake Community School District are deciding the fate of a bond issue to build a new early elementary building. 60 percent approval is needed for that measure to pass.
