Veterans Urged To Attend Meal And Program
(Spirit Lake)-- This Sunday, November 11th, marks the official observance of Veteran's Day. Denny Perry, Commander of the Spirit Lake American Legion Post tells KUOO news they'll be putting on a special meal that day for area veterans...
"We are holding our fifth annual turkey-ham dinner from 11:00 to 2:00 at the American Legion Post Headquarters at 1102 15th Street and we're serving from 11:00 to 2:00. We'll have a great turkey dinner for them there, and we'll also go out on Monday after the school program to the nursing homes and we honor the veterans in our area that call the nursing homes their home and we start at 1:00 and we go to all three of them here in town."
Perry says a special program honoring veterans will be held on Monday at the Sami Center at Spirit Lake High School...
"The Spirit Lake Middle and High School is hosting a program for all veterans on Monday, November 12th at 9:00 am at the Sami Center. The speaker this year is Dr. Bradley Meyer, new family practice physician at Lakes Regional Healthcare. All veterans are encouraged to attend and be there for that 9:00 program."
The public is also welcome to attend.
