Two Face Theft And Drug Charges Following Shoplifting Investigation

(Spencer)-- An investigation into a shoplifting complaint from the WalGreens store in Spencer resulted in theft and drug charges against two people.

Spencer police say they obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at 613 West 10th Street in Spencer as part of the investigation. Authorities found some of the shoplifted items along with drug paraphernalia, marijuana and a street sign.

Minutes following the search, police pulled over a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Ryan Stone of Spencer in the 600 block of West 10th Street. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up more drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Stone was arrested and booked into the Clay county jail on charges of theft in the 5th degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a street sign or signals.

As part of their investigation, officers also determined 23-year-old Brittany Frink of Spencer was a suspect. She was located at Hobby Lobby in Spencer shortly after 3:30 p.m. where she was arrested. A subsequent search of her person turned up merchandise she was allegedly attempting to shoplift from the store along with drug paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine. Frink was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of theft in the 5th degree, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
