Two E-L-C Student Athletes Test Positive For COVID-19
(Estherville)-- Officials with the Estherville-Lincoln Central School District say two student athletes there have tested positive for COVID-19.
A news release says one is a JV/Varsity softball player and one is a Freshman baseball player.
School officials say the families of the athletes were made aware of the positive test results Friday, and the athletes began their quarantine immediately upon notification they were in primary contact of another positive case. The athletes have not returned to practice.
The district says ELC Softball, Junior Varsity and Varsity players will be under a 14-day quarantine consistent with CDC and public health guidelines. The Freshman Softball team will not return for play the rest of the season.
School officials say ELC Baseball will be able to continue to play with some players under a 14-day quarantine.
They add that out of respect of privacy for those involved, no other details are being released.
