(Estherville)-- Authorities will be conducting a traffic safety checkpoint this coming Saturday, June 10th, on Highway 9 just west of the Estherville city limits.

Officers will be examining vehicles for all safety-related issues. In addition, drivers will be checked for valid driver's licenses, registration and insurance. Vehicles will also be checked for equipment violations.

Traffic safety information will also be distributed to drivers.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 6:00 pm and until 9:00 pm.

The Emmet County Sheriff's Office, Estherville and Armstrong Police Departments and the Iowa State Patrol will be conducting the checkpoint.

It's being made possible by a grant awarded to Compass Pointe through the Iowa Partnerships for Success program.

Jody Monroe, Compass Pointe's Iowa Partnerships for Success Coordinator, says the primary purpose of the checkpoint is to make sure the travelling public arrives at their destination safely.

The Iowa Partnerships for Success Grant is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention. It's administered by the Iowa Department of Public Health
