(Sanborn)-- A three-vehicle collision earlier this week northwest of Sanborn sent one person to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says it happened around 12:45 pm Wednesday. Troopers say 63-year-old Mark Van Beek of Sanborn was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup westbound on 300th Street and pulled into the intersection with Olive Avenue where he collided with a pickup driven by 24-year-old Gerardo Leanos-Ruvalcabe of Rock Valley who was southbound on Olive Avenue. The impact caused the pickup driven by Leanos-Ruvalcabe to spin. It then struck a 2015 Freightliner semi that had stopped to turn north onto 300th Street.

A passenger in the pickup driven by Leanos-Ruvalcabe was taken to the Sheldon hospital; another passenger in that vehicle complained of injuries but didn't seek immediate treatment.

Van Beek was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
