(Spencer)-- A three-vehicle collision Sunday at the intersection of two county roads near Dickens sent one person to the hospital. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office 52-year-old Bruce Enderson of Dickens was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on 370th Street approaching 300th Avenue, while 46-year-old Steven Gustin of Dickens was driving a 2005 Ford pickup southbound on 300th Avenue approaching 370th Street. Deputies say Enderson failed to yield and pulled into the path of the vehicle driven by Gustin.

The impact of the crash caused Enderson’s vehicle to turn to the south and fishtail, coming to rest facing south. Gustin’s vehicle slid into the southwest ditch and collided with a utility pole and a large shrub. It came to rest in a farm yard facing southwest.

Authorities say a short time later, 37-year-old Brent Swart of Spencer came upon the scene driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. Deputies say Swart’s vehicle, which was westbound on 370th Street, struck a power line from the downed utility pole.

Gustin was transported by ambulance to Spencer Hospital for treatment of possible injuries. No injuries were reported to Enderson or Swart.

$8,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicles driven by Enderson and Gustin; Swart’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage.

Authorities say charges are pending in connection with the crash, which took place shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
