There Are Some New Developments In The Search For A New City Manager In Spencer

Wed 9-1-2021

(Spencer)-- There are some new developments in the search for a new City Manager in Spencer. One of the three finalists, Al Roder of Independence, has decided to withdraw his name from consideration.

Based on that development, the city council met in a closed session Tuesday evening to talk about whether or not to extend an invitation to interview for the position to an additional candidate. After reconvening in open session, the council voted to extend the invite to two more of the top applicants. City officials say the names of the additional candidates will be released pending their acceptance of the invitation.

They would join the other two finalists, Kay Cmelik and Glenn Anderson.

Final interviews are set for October 2nd. Plans call for the Spencer City Council to meet soon after that to hire a new City Manager.
