(Arnolds Park)-The Okoboji Blue Water Festival will feature a full day of clean water-themed activities throughout the day, with the big concert Saturday night, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Okoboji Blue Water Festival will feature a full day of festivities with clean water themed activities for kids, vendors, exhibitors and the evening concert.
Festival Founder Greg Drees says the layout of the festival has changed a bit due to the improvements at Arnolds Park Amusement Park. "We will have our exhibitors along the sidewalk like we have the past 3 years. There will be, I think, 34 this year lined up along that sidewalk, capturing that natural pedestrian traffic coming through the Greenspace. Kids and family activities will be moved out a little bit into the Greenspace proper, and our big tent has been in the past right next to Bob's Drive-In, we have moved that out into the heart of the Greenspace."
He notes that a free fishing clinic will be offered. "We're very excited to have Dan Spengler with us from Pure Fishing. He's a hardbait specialist and there's a pretty good buzz about this young gentleman. He'll be under the big tent at 11:30 with the Fishing Seminar."
The walking play, Nature, will be presented as well. "It's based on the lives of Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson. These actors will start on top of the Greenspace and proceed down through the heart of the Greenspace performing this play, so it should be fun for kids and families."
The festival concludes with a big concert Saturday evening. "We have a nice group from Omaha, The Firm, they will open at 6:30. AT 7:30, Dave Mason, he co-founded the rock group Traffic with Steve Winwood, and has had a marvelous individual career through the decades. After Dave leaves the stage, Bruce Hornsby will be the headliner. Very, Very exciting."
