Suspect Arrested In Estherville Assault Case

(Estherville)-- Estherville police say they've arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the alleged assault of a woman on Monday.

Officers say they were called shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday to an address on Central Avenue regarding a woman who wanted to report an assault. Upon arrival, police determined the woman needed medical attention for her injuries.

Upon further investigation officers determined the woman was allegedly assaulted at a residence on South 7th Street by her boyfriend, identified as 31-year-old Jossie Ortiz-Milian of Estherville. Officers also determined that during the incident, Ortiz-Milian allegedly choked the woman and threatened to stab her with a knife.

Police then obtained and executed a search warrant at 716 Central Avenue, apartment 3, where Ortiz-Milian was located. He was placed under arrest without incident and was charged with burglary in the 1st degree...a class "B" felony, and domestic abuse assault, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Ortiz-Milian was booked into the Emmet county jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.

Police say additional charges are pending.
