Storm Lake Man Accused Of Sexual Assault
(Storm Lake)-- An investigation into a residential burglary in Storm Lake has resulted in the arrest of a man on sexual assault and burglary charges.
Storm Lake police say they were called to a residence around 6:20 pm where they met with an adult female who told them that her ex-boyfriend had allegedly entered her apartment without permission while she was home. The man, 27-year-old Jose Nieves Rodriguez, was told to leave the residence but refused. Police say Rodriguez then allegedly physically and sexually assaulted the victim. He then fled the residence in a smaller, red vehicle.
Police transported the victim to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Police located Rodriguez several hours later at another residence in Storm Lake and took him into custody.
Several search warrants were executed by Storm Lake police early this (Thurs.) morning in connection with the investigation.
Rodriguez was charged with burglary in the 1st degree, a class “B” felony, and sexual assault in the 3rd degree, a class “C” felony. He was booked into jail on a $25,000 bond.
Storm Lake police were assisted by the Sexual Assault Response Team.
