Still Time To Apply For Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Mon 3-2-2020

(Spirit Lake)-- Officials with Upper Des Moines Opportunity are reminding low-income homeowners and renters that there's still time to apply for a program that assists them in covering heating costs.

The agency says applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance, or LIHEAP program, are due by April 30th.

The program is not designed to pay a household's total energy costs, but provides supplemental assistance based on total household income, size of the household, type of dwelling, type of heating fuel, and other factors.

Anyone who has already applied and was approved earlier this winter cannot re-apply.

You can get more information and make an appointment to apply by contacting your local Upper Des Moines Opportunity Office. The number of the Dickinson county office is 336-1112.
