Wed 8-23-2017

The Spirit Lake Community Fire Department will hold their annual Firefighter Dance on Saturday evening.

Chief Pat Daly says the benefit helps with important equipment:

"This dance money helps support some of the Fire Department that the budget doesn't really cover, like new rescue tools, and we get pagers and radios.  We have to have communication on the fire scene, so we have to keep those updated.  We also do a lot with Fire Prevention Week stuff for the kids in the school.  We had over 600 kids come through the Fire Station last year for Fire Prevention so, it helps buy some of the stuff that we had out to them."

He adds that a free will donation will be accepted.

"We're doing a free will donation this year.  We sent letters out, we've been getting a lot of checks in the mail, and if you just want to come out and go to the dance, we'll have a boot there, you can just throw some money in it if you want, and come in and enjoy the evening."

Iowa Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee The Senders will provide the musical entertainment at the dance, which will run from 7-11 Saturday evening at the Dickinson County Expo Center in Spirit Lake.

Donations may also be dropped off at the Fire Department located at 2001 Peoria Avenue in Spirit Lake.
