Wed 1-13-2016
(Spirit Lake)-- It may soon be illegal to smoke or “vape” at public parks in Spirit Lake, as well as the Spirit Lake Public Library. The city council last (Tues.) evening approved the 1st reading of a proposed ordinance to that affect. This would also include playgrounds, aquatic areas, trails, the city’s little league fields, and any associated restroom or parking lot.
Spirit Lake City Administrator/Attorney Greg Owens told the council the ordinance is in line with the city’s various health initiatives...
The ordinance would not only ban the smoking of cigarettes, but any other use of tobacco, including chewing, as well as electronic smoking or “vaping” devices.
