Spirit Lake City Council Discusses Sewer Lining Project
(Spirit Lake)-- The Spirit Lake City Council Tuesday discussed proposed plans for a sanitary sewer lining project. City Attorney/Administrator Gregg Owens told the council the work would be done in the southeast part of the city...
"From 24th Street it runs generally southeast to Francis Sites and that's also where we have a storm sewer outlet down there. If you saw the map you'll see that most of that sanitary sewer main that runs through there basically runs through people's yards. And so if we were to have a back up or any situation there we'd have a heck of a mess whether it was winter or summer, so that's prime for re-lining, number one. And number two, that's the area of town that the Sanitary District I think has indicated they think they've had some issues with in the past and re-lining to the extent that there are already leakages out of the system, we're not aware that there are any at all, but to the extent that there might be, re-lining the sewer in that area is necessary and would provide protection now and for the future."
The council set August 25th at 5:30 pm as the date and time for the public hearing and bid letting on the proposed project.
