Spencer Schools Implementing A Mask Mandate

Thu 10-8-2020

(Spencer)-- The Spencer Community School District will be implementing a mask mandate effective Monday, October 12th. School officials say all students, staff and anyone else entering Spencer Community school facilities or on school grounds will be required to wear a face mask.

The district says it stems from new quarantine guidelines for schools issued September 29th by the Iowa Department of Public Health that says close contacts will no longer be required to quarantine if an appropriate face covering was worn consistently and correctly by both people during an exposure. The guideline does not apply to household contacts.

In a statement, the Spencer School District says students will be able to take mask breaks and will be allowed to remove masks when social distancing can be achieved.
