Spencer Pursuit Results In Charges Against Multiple People

(Spencer)-- What started off Friday as a pursuit in Spencer has resulted in numerous charges being filed against multiple people.

Spencer police say it started shortly before 11:30 am when an officer tried to pull over a vehicle being driven by 37-year-old Lonnie Whitford of Spencer who was wanted on warrants. Authorities say a pursuit ensued and that a passenger, 30-year-old Wesley Lloyd of Spencer, was allegedly seen throwing a white powder out of the window. The pursuit ended in the 800 block of East 13th Street with Whitford leading police on a foot pursuit. The pursuit ended in the 800 block of East 12th Street with Whitford being tased. He was then served with warrants for no valid driver's license, interference with official acts causing bodily injury, a bench warrant for possession of a controlled substance...3rd or subsequent offense, possession of a controlled substance marijuana...3rd or subsequent offense, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug, along with a mittimus for failure to serve a sentence.

Whitford was additionally charged with speeding, eluding, two counts of failure to stop for a stop sign, driving under suspension and interference with official acts. He was being held without bond.

Lloyd was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance...methamphetamine...3rd or subsequent offense, and interference with official acts. He was being held pending an initial court appearance.

Authorities then obtained and executed a search warrant Friday at 717 4th Avenue East in Spencer. It resulted in Whitford being additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine...3rd or subsequent offense, possession of a controlled substance...marijuana...3rd or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

34-year-old Jasmine Bauer of Spencer was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance...marijuana...3rd or subsequent offense, and served a Clay county warrant for a probation violation. Bond was set at $2,000.

In addition, 51-year-old Freddie Lee, Jr. of Hartley was charged with possession of a controlled substance...methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance...marijuana, and possession of contraband in a correctional institution.

And 31-year-old Jerry Lockhart, Jr. of Estherville was served an Emmet county warrant for a parole violation.

Spencer police were assisted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division Of Narcotics Enforcement.
