(Spencer)-- An investigation into an incident last week in the 3400 mile of 140th Avenue in Clay county resulted in the arrest of a Spencer man on drug charges.

The Sheriff's Office says a deputy on patrol encountered a vehicle in that area that was stopped on the road with the driver side door and trunk open. Upon further investigation the deputy found the driver of the vehicle fishing beside a bridge and that he could smell marijuana coming from the man. The deputy then found a marijuana pipe made from a pop can. The suspect, 45-year-old Jake Letcher of Spencer, was then arrested.

The deputy also found a chewing tobacco can with what's alleged to be marijuana in it.

Letcher was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance...marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety.
