Spencer Man Arrested In Connection With Multiple Vehicle Burglaries And Two Different Vehicle Thefts
(Spencer)-- An investigation this past Thursday into a suspicious person complaint in Spencer resulted in the arrest of a Peterson man on multiple charges.
Police say they were called to 215 12th Avenue West and upon arriving saw several people flee on foot. Officers were able to apprehend one person, identified as 40-year-old Gary Stallings II of Peterson in the 800 block of 14th Avenue West.
Upon investigating, police determined Stallings had allegedly been involved in multiple burglaries to vehicles along with the thefts of two vehicles that had occurred during the overnight hours in Spencer. He was also accused of using multiple credit and debit cards that had been stolen from the vehicles.
Stallings was arrested and charged with ongoing criminal conduct, theft in the 1st degree, four counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, two counts of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, two counts of 3rd degree burglary and interference with official acts. Stallings was booked into the Clay county jail on a $5,000 bond.
Spencer police were assisted in the investigation by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
