Spencer Hospital Receives Special Recognition
(Spencer)-- Spencer Hospital has been recognized for the sixth consecutive year through a Medicare initiative that measures quality and cost efficiency.
The Value Based Purchasing program assesses hospital performance in a number of areas, including clinical, patient safety, patient experience and cost efficiency measures.
Hospitals participating in the program receive a 2 percent payment reduction for a specific range of Medicare services. Hospitals can earn the 2 percent back, partially or in full, and even some extra for good outcomes. For the year ahead, Spencer Hospital earned back its 2 percent and will receive an additional 0.73 percent in payment for exceeding performance norms.
Spencer Hospital was also recognized earlier this year by the iVantage healthcare analytics organization as one of the nation's Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals. Spencer Hospital has received that recognition in each of the three years that iVantage has conducted its assessment program.
