Some Reminders To Keep In Mind For Today's (June 2nd) Primary Election
(Spirit Lake)-- Another reminder that today (Tues.) is Primary Election day in the state of Iowa. Polls are open until 9:00 pm this (Tues.) evening. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is just one polling site in Dickinson county: it's the former Paul's Body Shop building just south of the courthouse parking lot in Spirit Lake.
Jordan Moyer of the Dickinson County Auditor's Office says they do have the proper precautions in place in light of the pandemic...
"We have hand sanitizer, masks and gloves that you can do when you enter our polling location since we only have one polling location for this election. And one thing you also need to remember to do when you come is that you need to have your I-D and if you don't have your I-D you can also have somebody attest for you and I-D would be a driver's license, passport, etcetera."
Moyer says a lot of people took advantage of voting early by mail due to the pandemic...
"We had a little over 3,200 requests come in through us. We've had about a little over, almost 2,800 back. So along with that make sure you're getting those ballots back in. They need to be postmarked by June 1st, which was yesterday, and they need to be in our office by June 8th at noon."
Again polls are open until 9:00 this (Tues.) evening.
