(Des Moines)-- Several attractions around the region will be getting spruced up thanks to awards made through the 2019 Paint Iowa Beautiful program.

The initiative provides free paint to a wide variety of public service projects and is made possible through a collaboration with Keep Iowa Beautiful and Diamond Vogel, which has donated over 10,488 gallons of paint for 887 community projects in Iowa over the 16 years the program has been offered.

Projects awarded paint this year include a mural in downtown Algona; the grandstand and ticket booth at the Buena Vista County Fairgrounds in Alta; the Hanover Historical Society in Cherokee; some main street wall art in Pocahontas; the Historical Park in Sheldon; Sioux Rapids Historical Society for the historical theatre floor project; the Spencer Park and Recreation Department to paint some picnic tables and for the Memorial and Public Library buildings in Terril.
