Snow Storm To Affect Region Through Evening Hours

Mon 1-5-2015 []

(Spirit Lake)-- A snow producing system will continue to affect the region into the evening hours this (Mon.) evening, before moving out of the region later tonight. As of 4:00 p.m., about four inches of snow had fallen in Spirit Lake. An additional three to four inches is expected before the snow ends sometime around 10:00 or 11:00 p.m.

The light, fluffy snowfall so far has caused few problems so far locally. Schools in the area called off classes early, and a number of events for this (Mon.) evening have either been cancelled or postponed. You can see the complete list by going to the weather portion of our website. Click on the cancellations tab.

Snow covered roads and poor visibility were said to be contributing factors in a crash earlier this (Mon.) afternoon on Highway 60 in Osceola county in which a semi rear-ended an Iowa Department of Transportation snow plow. Extensive damage was reported to both the semi and the plow. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
