SL Firefighters Battle Two House Fires Sunday

(Spirit Lake)-- Spirit Lake firefighters spent the better part of their day Sunday battling two house fires.

Fire Chief Pat Daly says the first call came in around 3:00 p.m. Sunday when firefighters were called to 2701 Adams Avenue in Spirit Lake...(click here for comment.) "There was a porch out back over a patio that was fully involved, the downstairs family room was fully involved. We had a lot of fire."

Daly says there was considerable damage to the home's interior...(click here for comment.) "It's quite extensive to the lower level, it's a split-level house. Smoke damage throughout the house. The Fire Marshal is coming up."

Firefighters were assisted by the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance which stood by as a precaution, the Spirit Lake Police Department and the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.

Daly says the second call came in late Sunday night...(click here for comment.) "We got called to 25510 Pasture Road right around 11:30 for a structure fire. When we got on the scene we had flames showing through the roof."

Daly says extensive damage was reported in that blaze as well...(click here for comment.) "The whole roof's gone off from it. People were home. A smoke detector woke them up. They all got out. We controlled it from the rest of the houses around there."

Daly says the State Fire Marshall will visit the site of that fire as well later today (Mon.)

No injuries were reported in either blaze.

Spirit Lake firefighters were assisted in the Pasture Road blaze by the Arnolds Park-Okoboji and Superior Fire Departments, the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.
