SL Fire Dept. To Hold Annual Pancake Feed This Saturday, April 6th
(Spirit Lake)-- The Spirit Lake Fire Department will be holding one of its major fundraising events of the year this weekend. Fire Chief Pat Daly says they'll be holding their annual pancake feed...
"We'll have the pancakes at the fire station this Saturday. We'll be running from 7:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. Hope to see everybody out there. This is a good chance to meet all of us firefighters that protect the area here. We do all the cooking and stuff ourselves."
Daly adds proceeds from the event go toward new equipment, including one item in particular...
"Right now what we're really saving up for equipment, we had a boat given to us by the DNR and we're trying to get it all outfitted. It will be on Big Spirit we're hoping this spring we can get it in the water. The hoist went in last fall, so we got that already. We just have to get the boat finished off and we'll atleast have a rescue boat up there on Big Spirit."
Daly says they're eventually planning to add equipment for foam on the boat. He says the boat and lift will be located at Marble Beach, on the west side of Big Spirit Lake.
Daly says the Spirit Lake Fire Department is also in need of recruits right now. Applications will be available at Saturday's event.
Admission to Saturday's pancake feed is by freewill donation. Again the event will be held from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Spirit Lake Fire Station.
