Six Area Counties Reporting Two-Week Covid Positivity Rates Above 15 Percent

(Des Moines)-- The Iowa Department of Public Health says a number of counties in northwest Iowa have COVID-19 two-week average positivity rates higher than 15 percent. They include Emmet, Lyon, O'Brien, Osceola, Plymouth and Sioux counties.

The agency reported 522 new positive tests of the virus as of Tuesday, and that 11 more Iowans had died because of it, bringing the total number of virus-related deaths in the state to 1,399.

The department says a record-high 413 people were hospitalized with the virus in Iowa as of Tuesday with 104 in intensive care units and 43 on ventilators.
