Severe Thunderstorms Bring 60 To 80 MPH Wind, Torrential Rain And Hail; Tree And Structural Damage Reported

Sat 6-11-2016 []

(Spirit Lake)-- Residents in many parts of the region will spend the rest of their weekend cleaning up from storm damage. Severe thunderstorms with 60 to 80 mph wind, torrential rain and in some cases large hail pummeled the region last (Fri.) evening.

In the lakes area, extensive tree damage was reported in portions of Spirit Lake, where there were also reports of downed power lines.

No injuries were reported.

The forecast says there’s a slight chance of thunderstorms re-developing later this (Sat.) afternoon in the extreme heat and humidity. If any do get going, they too could become severe. Thunderstorm chances increase again early next week, followed by much cooler conditions.

A portion of the roof over a lumber storage facility at Citation Homes was ripped off. It landed across the street near the ROC Management Office complex.
