Severe Storms Packing 60-70 Mph Wind Rake Portions Of The Region

(Undated)-- Severe thunderstorms, some packing winds of 60 to 70 mph, plowed through portions of the region in the late afternoon and early evening Sunday. 

Northern Sioux county was one of the hardest hit areas with extensive tree damage in the Hawarden and Rock Valley areas where some power outages were also reported. Some tree limbs were reported down in the Lake Park and Superior areas and in scattered locations around the Iowa Great Lakes. Dime to quarter size hail was also reported on the southeast side of the city of Spirit Lake and in the Moore Lake area of East Lake Okoboji. 

Heavy rain also accompanied the storms with 1.30 inches at the KUOO studios.
