Rundown Of Local Races In Today's Election

(Undated)-- Here's a rundown on the contested races in anumber of northwest Iowa counties that we will be closely following in today's (Tues.) election.

In Clay county, Joe Skow, Randy Swanson and Mike Wilson are running for two at-large seats on the board of supervisors and Kristi Kuester and John Greer are facing off for County Attorney.

In Dickinson county, Shane Bush and Tim Fairchild are squaring off for the District 3 seat on the board of supervisors. Voters in rural areas of the county are also deciding whether the board of supervisors should fill the offices of township clerk and trustee by appointment as the terms of office of the incumber township officers expire.

Six people are running for three at-large seats on the Emmet county board of supervisors. They include Roger Hash, Bev Juhl, John Brickner, Tim Schumacher and John Skrepak. There's also a race for County Auditor between incumbent Amy Sathoff and challenger Amy Brickner. And six people are running for five open seats on the Emmet County Ag Extension Council. They include Cody Newgard, Beto Hernandez, Trevor Enerson, Greg Delm, Bruce Chrestiansen and Betsey Ulrich.

The only contested race in O'Brien county is for the County Ag Extension Council, where five people are seeking four seats that are on the ballot. They include Kiana Johnson, Christine Feltman, Mariah Oliver, Ryan Freese and Michael Wagner.

In Osceola county, there are races for three seats on the board of supervisors. Jayson Vandehoef and Grant Sixta are facing off for the District 2 seat; a race for District 4 features Jerry Helmers and Phil Bootsma; and in District 5 Ed Jones and Merlin Sandersfeld are squaring off against each other.

There are also races for two seats on the Palo Alto county board of supervisors. In District 3, Edward Noonan and Roger Faulstick are running, and in District 4 Ronald Graettinger and Richard Prior are squaring off.

Polls throughout Iowa opened at 7:00 am, and will remain open until 9:00 this (Tues.) evening.
