(Spirit Lake)-RSVP is seeking volunteers for several programs, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:

RSVP seeking Volunteers for Virtual Programs

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, has several volunteer opportunities for those who would like to work from home.

Dickinson County RSVP Coordinator DeNeitt VanDenBroeke, says one option is with the Pen Pal Program.  "For winter projects, we usually do our Pen Pal projects.  We are starting Spirit Lake actually this week, their letters are going out.  Okoboji will be starting in February, and we're always looking to grow that program and add more classes.  We're hoping to add Lake Park maybe next fall, and also Graettinger-Terril."

She adds that the group is starting a virtual reading project.  "We are getting several chrome books to distribute throughout our RSVP programs here in Northwest Iowa, and we are going to have our volunteers helping with beginning and struggling readers, either by recording books and sending those to teachers, or by setting up zoom conferences with the students.  One other opportunity we have is called National History Day.  We're also looking for virtual judges to judge the Iowa District and Iowa State Virtual History Day Projects.  All the volunteers need for that would be a computer and an email."
